Sadly from the very early stages of his MMA career Yoel decided that he would not rely on his wrestling and takedown skills because he was too proud and did not want to be known as a one dimensional fighter known only for his takedowns, and because he also had a very strong boxing background, as most Cubans do, he decided early on that he would not use wrestling to his advantage and would only fight standing up!! Can you imagine the level of success Yoel would have achieved had he decided early on to incorporate his incredible wrestling skills, and would rely on takedowns just as Habib did so famously did in his career, can you imagine what a beast he would be, I would argue he may very well be still undefeated and we would be talking about the greatest of all time! 😔

This is main issue with Dagestani's who can't employ Judo takedowns like Islam. Patchy Mix needs to be takedown from the clinch with a trip of some sorts or bodylock. Patchy is similar to Charles Olivera: he's very good in the early rounds.
